Student guideline privacy & confidentiality
As I am only a psychotherapy student none of these are legally binding but the principles which I work to:
Appointments: It would be beneficial for the continuity of busy lives to find a regular agreed meeting times, however health and unexpected requirements do come up, so if a session has to be rescheduled I would appreciate it if we gave as much notice as possible, under normal circumstances that would be 24 hours. During the previous meeting we can arrange a time for the next meeting or make a regular slot to help us organise our calendars. This is currently the arrangement with volonteer clients.
Fees: As I am a student there is no charge from me, although if I am in a placement the placement may charge a reduced fee for the use of their facilities and service.
Data Collection: As a requirement of my course I keep notes concerning our sessions, these notes are anonymised but can be produced to you if requested. These notes and any other confidential materials are kept locked for 5 years then shredded
Confidentiality: It is my practice to respect anything that you feel you want to express and our space is confidential. Like all practicing students and practitioners I am oblidged to undergo regular supervision. If I need to take anything that you say to my Supervisor this will be anonymised of any identifying material, equally I am oblidged by law to only breach confidentiality to the appropriate authorities if there is a risk to you/others. Finally, if their is a criminal process or case and my notes are requested by subpoena, I will co-operate with the request.
